Description
Rare 9ct. gold on silver Victorian “long armed” Masonic ball.
This one has hinges which open the silver pyramid sections to reveal a crucifix engraved with symbols, which were often the letter ‘G”, the square, the compass and other traditional letters or emblems representing the Masonic principles of brotherhood, and commitment to charitable and moral values, which go back centuries.
Jewellery like this would have been worn at formal Victorian Masonic social events or gatherings.
A fascinating piece, full of mystery and secret symbolism with an attractive natural patina.
