A Rare Ceramic Plaque by English potter Josiah Wedgewood.

 

Made in 1780 to promote the abolition of the slave trade.

 

The plaque depicts a man in chains on his knees below the motto ” Am i not a man and a brother”

 

Several examples of these can be found in the Victoria and Albert museum and British museum to name a few.

 

Later mounted in high carat gold frame.
