Mid 19th century 15k gold gold brooch. featuring a beautiful vitreous oval cut citrine stone encompassed within entwined snakes.
Snake motifs are one of the earliest mythological symbols in jewellery. Egyptian pharaohs saw snakes as royalty and deities and they were worn as sacred objects such as pendants.
This brooch is in excellent condition commensurate with age and highly detailed as can be seen from photos. Very collectible and will be treasured.
